Dolomies - Euguy - Spain

At a few kilometers from Pampelune ( Spanish Navarre) is the exploitation in open air of Eugui.
From this quarry come the most beautiful dolomies of the world, known so for their transparency and their crystallization.

" They decorated big cavities and cracks appeared in the massive magnesia. Rhomboedric crystals which were extracted from it, impeccable and brilliant, streaked finely, are at present shown in most of the big world collections. The Museum possesses one of the most fantastic series, with blocks of 50 cm magnesia covered with crystals of 5 cms edge and with interpenetrated rhomboedrons from 15 to 20 cms edge: on the whole, a half-dozen of samples of exceptional class, among which it is very difficult to distinguish the major specimen. "
