Torbernite - Margabal

These specimens were collected in 1997-1998 to Margabal ( Aveyron). This deposit is recognized as having delivered big quality specimens. Remark that the big torbernite of the NHMP of Paris results from this mine.

All the specimens presented here are stabilized (do not degrade with time). The treatment which I made is not visible, and does not appear in the UV. If specimens are not treated, they degrade and eventually fall in dust in some years. With this treatment, since 1997, no specimen disepeared...

The radioactivity of these specimens is very low (this owed also to the fact of the low percentage content in autunite). Around 10 centimeters far from the minerals (check made at the house in the Geiger counter), that this is very low.
